Plastiline is a professional, high precision, premium grade, multi-purpose, non-drying modelling clay renowned for its excellent ability to hold shape and to retain its moisture; allowing it to be remodelled as many times as necessary. Plastiline is used throughout a variety of industries, particularly where precision is essential - not only in the Fine Arts but in cinema and filmmaking for set and character creation; for restoring paintings; goldsmithing; architecture for creating models plus building prototypes in the automotive, aeronautical and nautical industries, wind tunnel testing, electronics and more. Depending on the use, there is several degrees of stiffness. Soft is easily workable and fingers can be used for the preliminary work shaping. The harder degrees may require the use of chisels or knives. The increase in hardness allows for more precise work and expression of details. Plastiline can be painted with acrylic paints and be covered with a layer of previously diluted shellac in alcohol. It can be smoothed with a brush dipped in turpentine. Herbin Plastiline is available in 3 grades – soft, medium and firm.
